Fear – whether it’s of failure , success or rejection – can stop you from getting started on something that you promised you’d do in 2020.

And the good news is, you really are not alone with that. Even the most successful entrepreneurs, athletes,authors, and celebrities out there, have to do daily mindset work on their struggle with fear. So, today, I thought that I would write a post about how to put an end to allowing your fear to stop you….. in regards to whatever it is that YOU would like to achieve in 2020.

1. Just get started. You do not have to be ‘perfect’.

The first thing that I would say, if you were sat face to face with me, is to just get started. So many people put things off because they feel that if they are going to launch that website, write a blog post, paint a picture or start a project then it needs to be perfect.

This is not the case – just get started. Put something out there, and don’t think about who may see it. Just put it out there because you feel called to do so. From there, the momentum will keep growing and you will be inspired to do the next thing.

It’s better to keep moving forwards, and adapting the plan as you go, rather than sitting as an observer and never getting started.

2. Redefine what you class as failure.

YOU get to choose what YOU see as failure. If for example, posting something on Facebook and it only gets a few likes means that something has failed for you, then you need to ask yourself why you see that as failure. It can depend on all kind of factors – the time of day that you post things, the time zone that your audience are living in – change something, keep trying and the results will alter for you.

People who have created the most amazing inventions have had to try hundreds of times, over and over, before they got to that one magical invention. If Edison had not ‘failed’ 1,000 times then the light bulb would never have been invented. 

And if Einstein did not even speak until he was 4…. imagine if these people had just given up because society deemed them different, or a failure?

3. Take it one small bite at a time but dare to dream big.

Dreaming BIG and seeing the bigger picture is fabulous. BUT – don’t try and do everything in one go, and then feel like you have failed because you have crashed and burned at the first hurdle. Looking only on the BIG picture, can be totally overwhelming.

Take it one small bite at a time and things will grow from there – one example is, if you are dreaming of writing a book this year, but you don’t know how to find the time to do it… just get started, Set aside just 15 minutes a day to write something.

15 minutes over 7 days is 105 minutes, which is one hour 25 minutes. isn’t that better than sitting here in one weeks time wondering how to get started?

If you are waiting to get started but fear is getting the better of you – and you are hoping to remove your fear before you get started then you could be in for a long waiting game. To some extent, fear is always going to go along for the ride with you and it will always be trying to stop you, The thing that you need to ask yourself is are you going to let it?

Whatever you have on your agenda for 2020, just get started…
