All of us experience fear and fear is a normal part of everyday life. We feel fear to keep ourselves safe, and under normal image 2circumstances, fear can be controlled and managed through reason and logic. We can experience fear of one thing, or event, and then never experience it again, and we can feel fear of a multitude of things throughout our lifetime

Phobia, however, is different from everyday fear. it is when fear is exaggerated and can often leave the person experiencing it petrified and debilitated. A Phobia will also usually be related to one thing or object and stems from an experience where the emotional fear response to an incident was heightened.

Let’s Talk About A Phobic Response – What Is It And How Can It Be Treated?

The Phobic Response is a severe reaction to something, whether it be an object, a place, maybe even a person (such as a Clown). Where fear can be treated using logic, a phobic response cannot be treated using logic, as the fear has become illogical.

A Phobic Response is often extreme, and instinctual, with the person experiencing it, going into Fight, Flight, or Freeze mode. Ine example would be someone who has a phobia of spiders, feeling the scene as fast as possible – this would be going into flight mode. Another person with the same phobia may react differently and go into freeze mode…. where they go completely silent and still.

Signs of a Phobic Response include:

  • Palpitations
  • Sweating
  • Rapid, shallow breathing
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Complete Panic/ panic attacks
  • Plus many more.

I work with clients from all walks of life to help them be free from their phobia, and some of my clients come to me with a lifelong phobia. However, regardless of how long a person has been suffering, Phobias can be treated really quickly. This is because I use an approach that bypasses the symptoms of the phobia and goes directly to the root cause of the phobia.

Once we tackle the root cause and change the emotions associated with the memory, you can walk out of my office, free from your phobia.
