It’s that dreaded time of year again – those 8 legged creatures have slowly begun to descend on us. Nobody really ‘loves’ a spider (do they?) but for some of us, the fear is palpable. So,if your fear is more of a phobia, it’s time to ask the question – ‘Can A Spider Phobia Be Cured?’. Read on to discover my answer…
I was going to keep you waiting but go on then, yes. My answer is YES. A spider phobia can be cured, and it’s actually much easier than you are probably thinking. The hardest part for most people is getting to the point of treatment, because the very act of talking about spiders, conjures up a scary image for them.
I am going to give you a great tip that you can use right now, to help overcome the initial ‘fear’ of a spider – but before I do that, I wanted to share this video with you. And what’s more, Darcy went on a spider hunt with me and even began to bond with the 8 legged creatures, referring to them as ‘cute’.Wow, what a turnaround!

This Exercise Will Stop You Being Scared Of Spiders.
I want you to close your eyes, picture a spider, and then I want you to pop some roller skates on it. Yep, you read that correctly 🙂 Have some fun with this… pop some roller skates on it, one on each of its eight spndly legs, and look at it trying to stop itself falling.
Are you smiling yet?
Now pop a purple curly wig on its head, and let’s add in some background music.. i am thinking Saturday Night Fever… turn up the volume, and demand that spider start dancing!
WHY THIS WORKS – YOU CANNOT FEEL TWO EMOTIONS AT THE EXACT SAME TIME! SO YOU CANNOT FEEL FEAR AND FIND SOMETHING FUNNY AT THE SAME TIME.
I am of course not suggesting that this takes away your underlying phobia, or is a fast cure, but what this does, is changes your emotional state and this gives you the distance that you need from your fear so that you can compose yourself and then deal with things – whether that is getting rid of a spider in your bedroom or booking your one to one session with me.

I’d always had a fear of wasps ever since my early childhood. Knowing deep down that my fear was somewhat irrational, I wanted to overcome it for good, but was initially sceptical at how effective ICS really was.
I would often avoid large outdoor spaces, especially parks, in fear of coming into contact with a wasp and getting chased and/or stung. If I’d hear a wasp-like noise, I’d instantly feel nervous and would react as though I was in real danger – which would be highly embarrassing when in the company of acquaintances or strangers.
After one session with Christopher, I felt my anxiety disappear. Now, when I think about wasps, I no longer feel ‘on edge’ or find myself looking for the nearest escape route.
I found it very insightful to be able to get to the root of my phobia and develop an understanding of those childhood experiences which had caused it to intensify over the years.
