Stress – it affects most of us and it can be really flippin’.. Annoying.

How many times have you gone about your day, promising that you’re not going to allow stress to get to you, only to find yourself struggling under the weight of it all?

Just as you think you’ve got a handle on things, along comes that ‘person’ who really annoys you. It feels like no matter how hard you try to get on top of things, there’s always something around the corner waiting to stress you….


April is Stress Awareness month and so today I wanted to take a moment to share a very quick tip with you. This tip will help you get a handle on your stress really easily and can reduce your stress in a matter of minutes.

Now, I know that stress can be super annoying because you cannot necessarily control what goes on around you. But you CAN control what goes on within you.

You have the power to control your reactions and  you can make an active choice whether to act or react to things.

Knowing and accepting that stress is a part of daily living, somehow disempowers it. To be forewarned is to be forearmed as the old saying goes. Make it your mission this week to create your very own stress combating took kit. Go shopping and get the following:


Stress relieving shopping list…

  • Lavender essential oil or something that promotes relaxation and calmness
  • A stress toy.
  • Chamomile tea.

Now, the actual items are not what’s important here – what matters, is that you are taking control of things, When you choose to step back and select one of these items, you are interrupting your thought process, which instantly changes how you feel. It does this by altering your physiological state, which in turn affects other things…. such as your mood, your energy levels and how you are feeling in general.

So, here’s what to do with it….

When you feel stressed, choose to squeeze your stress ball. OR, when you feel stressed, spritz yourself with your calming lavender spray. Chamomile tea is always a good one.. not only will chamomile calm you, the actual act of getting up, going to the kettle and preparing a cuppa, will instantly detatch and relax you.

These items don’t have to cost a lot of money and can easily be taken to work for example, but they do act as a reminder, as a trigger, for you to get control of things. You may never be able to remove everything from your life that stresses you, But with a well thought out (simple) plan of action, you CAN change how things FEEL for you.
