One of the most common reactions that I get when clients come to see me, is that they are amazed at just how quickly I can remove their fear or phobia.
One of the preconceptions about fear is that the only way to remove it is to expose yourself to whatever it is that you are scared of. So for example, if you have a phobia or fear of spiders, the therapist gets you sit and hold a tarantula…
This approach actually puts many people off dealing with their fear. Who really wants to see more of what they are doing their best on a daily basis to avoid?
I used to dread going through tunnels, over bridges, going on the subway and of course flying. These events don’t punctuate my life anymore, and now, I don’t even think of them.
